Knee Pain? Stop Looking at Your Knee!
I can’t tell youhow many times I’ve heard somebody tell me that they have “bad knees.” Well, your knees may bother you,but I’m here to say that your knees are probably not the problem. Inactuality, your knees are most likely doing everything right, but you have bad hips (or ankles).
I should make clear that there are exceptions, and Iwill not be talking about any knee issues that may have developed from acontact injury (like having someone headbutt your knee, shattering yourACL). But, everyone needs to realize that the pain is NOT the problem -it’s merely the signal ofa larger problem.
Exercise to Make You More Awesome: The Step Up
Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend! It's been busy at the gym for the past few weeks, and I had my sister in town this weekend which was nothing short of awesome. If you're curious, we ordered....and finished....an entire boat of sushi. It was pretty much the best meal I've had in a while.
That said, it's been some time since I highlighted a particular exercise, so I wanted to do so with an exercise that's not as popular, but pretty darn effective: the step up.
First things first, this is not your 1980's aerobics class brand of step up.
My Introduction
Well hello there. I'm Alex and I’m not sure why, but for whatever reason you’ve stumbled across this blog and I’m honored. This blog will be about strength and conditioning, nutrition, and just making yourself better both physically and mentally.
So what's my goal in creating this site? It's to help people feel better, move better, and look better....in that order!
Smoking, Stretching and Squatting Anthems
Today’s post is a bit different, as I decided to highlight some other articles and good reads that I’ve recently come across. In a perfect world, I’ll be able to do this type of post every week or two, but we’ll see how things pan out. Hopefully the articles I post below will pique your interest, as they have mine!
Your Guide to Nutritional Awesomeness
Ooooooh boy, it has been A WHILE since my last blog post. My bad!
The reason, as you could probably guess, is that I've been busy with clients even though we're in the midst of vacation season (which is always a good thing). Also, I'm known as the "nutrition guy" where I work, and was recently asked to revamp the nutrition tips that we hand out to clients. While most of my free time this week was devoted to that, I decided that I should also post them to this blog. After all, if you're one of the lucky ones who's reading my blog, there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to view this list of nutritional awesomeness.
I do want to mention that my girlfriend, Lindsay, helped me compile this list as well (have I mentioned she already has a masters in nutrition communications....and is now getting her doctorate?) And so without any further ado, here are our 6 tips, and I hope they help!
