Posture, Ibuprofen and Squatting Anthems

Canyou believe it's mid-December?  I’m notsure where the past 3 ½ months went, but they sure flew by for me.

Insteadof one of my normal posts today, I wanted to pass along some of the great linksand articles that I’ve seen through the past week. And of course, there’s a new squatting anthem for those that areinclined at the very end.

Firstup is an awesome infographic from Greatist on posture.  The majority of people I see tend to have posturethat ranges from “not good” to “terrible.” Further, most people don’t realize how an office job simple reinforcesall of their problems.  While the reasonswhy bad postures develop are pretty numerous (they can even result from justbreathing), it’s important to remind yourself everyday of how you sit or stand.

The Ultimate Guide to Good Posture

Next, here’s a great write up of a study that was recently completed on enduranceathletes and the use of ibuprofen.  Ishudder when I think about my running days, and how I used to take ibuprofenbefore or after my runs when I had a litany of injuries.  I’ve said it before, pain is never theproblem...it’s merely the signal of a larger issue.

For Athletes, Risks From Ibuprofen Use

Thelast article is below, and for another week I wanted to share a link thatfocuses on why women should be lifting weights. Now, does this mean back squatting and clean and jerks for allwomen?  No.  But, it does a nice job explaining that thetraditional routes women take to exercise will never lead them to realizingtheir goals.

Letter to a Client or Why I Don't Believe in Barre Classes

Now,if you’ve made it this far, my squatting anthem for the next week isbelow.  Whenever I hear this song I liketo rename it, “Kickstart My Squat.”  Onthat note, have a great weekend everyone!
